Why Tuesday is the new Monday at work
Tuesday is the most productive day of the week, while most workers start to wind down for the weekend at 2pm on a Friday, according to a new report.
A survey of 1,300 employers and workers has found that many spent most of Monday catching up on emails, attending meetings or taking conference calls. Monday is also the day with greater sickness and absenteeism levels.
The study, by employment law firm Peninsula, has revealed that more overtime is put in on a Tuesday than on any other day of the week. Friday is the least productive day, with three out of four of those questioned saying they start to slow down after lunch.
Deb Gibbons, head of employee relations at Peninsula, said: “Monday has always been the traditional productive day of the week, but our research shows that for the first time Tuesday has surpassed this.”
