Business School students serve up success
Five students from Newcastle University Business School have been serving up a storm from the University’s first ever crêperie. Mange Tu, initially developed as part of a Young Enterprise group, has proved so successful with staff and students alike that it has been approached by the University to become a permanent fixture, with the options to expand into other Universities, outdoor events and to start up a franchise.
The first few months of trading have proved to be very profitable for Mange Tu leaving the future looking bright for the small business start up.
Laura Pope, Head of Sales, said: “Initially, we came up with the idea of Mange Tu when considering a gap in the student catering marketing. We began by brainstorming our favourite foreign foods and crepes came out as the firm favourite.
“The team behind Mange Tu really understand the customer and the product, which has led to a growing customer base. Students have really welcomed a break from the norm when it comes to university catering and we’re set to keep moving onwards and upwards.”
Following its success at the Global Café in the Students Union at Newcastle University, Mange Tu are planning to upgrade its ingredients and its equipment allowing the provision of an even higher standard of service.
