Leading bank sponsors Newcastle Gateshead Art Fair
The world’s largest bank has thrown its weight behind the North East’s largest commercial art fair.
HSBC has been announced as one of the sponsors of NewcastleGateshead Art Fair 2008, to be held at The Sage Gateshead from 11 -14 September.
Andy Balman, co-director of the Art Fair said: “We are delighted with HSBC’s involvement. The Fair provides a good opportunity for organisations to express their commitment to emerging art, artists and the representative organisations that work with them.”
“Involvement from HSBC together with partnerships developed over the past year with organisations such as Gateshead MBC, NGI, ONE, BALTIC, Northern Print and Arts Council of England will ensure that the Art Fair delivers an event of international significance, representative and reflective of the region’s growing cultural activity.”
Apart from the Art Fair, HSBC is also giving back to the community by supporting the Rural Academy of Cumbria and Whoops! child safety project. HSBC staff hope to raise a minimum of £100,000 for the Great North Air Ambulance (GNAA) service who will also have a presence at the fair.
Andy Maisey, regional director of HSBC said: “We are pleased to be putting money into the local community - both by sponsoring the Art Fair and donating money to the Great North Air Ambulance service. We’re also planning to commission a local artist to produce a piece of art which one lucky visitor to the Fair can win.”
The NewcastleGateshead Art Fair will be a must for all visitors, art lovers and collectors along with those interested in browsing for their first investment. An extensive range of unique art works - paintings, photographs, sculpture, ceramics and glass will be available to buy.
