"1,000 give a £1,000" for Seaton Delaval Hall
Seaton Delaval Hall, one-time hub of the North East’s coal trade, is in danger of being lost forever.
The National Trust needs to raise a total of £13.2m by Christmas to be able to acquire the Hall and protect its future. £6.9m has been pledged to the region from the Trust, however the remaining £6.3m appeal target needs to be raised by the end of 2008.
As part of this wider campaign to keep Seaton Delaval Hall open to the public, The National Trust is now appealing to all North East businesses and community groups to each fundraise £1,000, to save 1,000 years of local history and breathe life into 1,000 years more.
The National Trust will support all businesses involved in the ‘1,000 give £1,000’ campaign in their fundraising efforts, and all those who reach the target will be included in a special feature in The Journal.
The National Trust believes that the regeneration and investment into Seaton Delaval Hall could make a major contribution to the renaissance of the whole region, following in the footsteps of Alnwick Gardens and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art in Gateshead.
The Hall also has the potential to be an ideal venue for plays, concerts and exhibitions, educational projects, sports and leisure, attracting local communities, tourists and visitors alike.
For further information on how to get involved or to request a fundraising pack call The National Trust on 0191 255 7618.
