UK entrepreneurs remain confident

Another week, another survey of UK entreprenuers. Apparently, the UK’s entrepreneurs are confident and optimistic despite the flailing global economy.

A poll taken at last week’s Orange National Business Awards found that 69% of businesses feel the UK’s entrepreneurial spirit has not been dampened in the current economic climate. Nearly a quarter said they thought British entrepreneurs were pushing boundaries to succeed, and half said the country’s talent pool was the best attribute for successful businesses.

“It’s encouraging to see such a strong spirit of entrepreneurialism, optimism and hope for the future of UK business,” said Paul Tollet, vice president of Orange Business.

More than half of those surveyed said investing in skills and training was vital to ensuring long term business success, while 34% said innovation was the most important factor. However, businesses were split when it came to confidence in the UK economy weathering the economic storm in comparison with the rest of the world.

Less than a third believe the UK is more prepared than other countries, 32% think it is just as prepared and 37% think it is less prepared than other nations.
