Contact centres call for new recruits
Job seekers looking to buck the trend of the recession are being offered the chance to find out about the vacancies available in the contact centre field at a jobs fair later this month.
With employers looking to fill over 300 vacancies, people will have an opportunity to find out about potential career opportunities at the city’s annual Contact Centre Recruitment Day, which is being organised by Sunderland City Council.
The event, one of the biggest contact centre recruitment events in the country, takes place at Crowtree Leisure Centre on Thursday 29 January.
Representatives from contact centres including EDF Energy, T-Mobile and Barclays will all be attending as they look to line up the next generation of workers.
Besides job opportunities, those seeking support before applying for work will be able to find out about training options at Sunderland’s Contact Centre Academy.
Councillor Paul Watson, Leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “Sunderland is one of the most advanced locations in the world for contact centres and continues to develop thanks to the highly skilled and adaptable workforce that’s available in the city.
“The recruitment day is an ideal opportunity for those out of work or looking to change career to find out about openings in the sector. It is a fantastic industry to work in with many attractive career opportunities.”
Also at the recruitment day will be Lloyds TSB, 2Touch and Fusion. For more information call the event information line on 0191 511 6800.
