North East CEO named as top 50 player
Marion Bernard, CEO of venture capital firm NorthStar Equity Investors (NSEI), has been recognised as one of the top 50 key players on the growth company scene.
The only name hailing from the North East, Bernard is also one of just five women listed in the ‘Power Top 50’, which is compiled annually by Business XL to showcase the most influential people in the field of private equity.
The full list can be seen at www.businessxl.co.uk where Marion is fortieth in the ranking and the report states that NSEI is “helping fledgling businesses in a part of the country where venture capital often fears to tread.”
Marion Bernard said: “Some of the most experienced and successful industry players are featured in the Power Top 50 and it’s a privilege to be the ambassador for North East England.
“Whatever’s said about this region, we know that the knowledge economy is burgeoning here, which gives us the opportunity to be involved at the inception of new science and technology start ups, investing funds early when private investors may be more hesitant to commit. It’s a hotbed of talent which makes it a great place to do business.”
