Call centre to create 300 jobs in region
Recruitment is now underway for 300 positions with a call centre provider as it expands into North East premises.
Convergys, which already employs 350 people on Tyneside, is almost doubling its workforce after securing a multimillion-pound deal with a telecommunications company.
To accommodate its expansion, Convergys has revealed it is taking a new base on the Quorum Business Park, in North Tyneside.
The company, which has secured funding from regional development agency One North East, has also been helped by the Tyne and Wear Development Company in tendering for its newly-secured contract.
Mark Smith, Convergys operations director, said that the company is very pleased to be recruiting for new positions at a time of economic turbulence.
Alma Harrison, strategic account officer at Tyne and Wear Development Company, said: “These are good quality jobs, servicing new and existing customers, managing relations and stimulating repeat business.”
