Sir Alan Sugar hosts apprenticeship seminar
Only a few days after his appointment as the government’s Enterprise Tsar, Sir Alan Sugar is in Gateshead today to promote the benefits of apprenticeships to the young people of the region.
Sir Alan, whose TV show The Apprentice finished on Sunday night, is the public face of the Learning and Skill’s Council’s Apprenticeships campaign. He is attending the seminar in Dunston to offer his advice for local businesses and potential apprentices.
The seminar aims to provide advice for businesses already running apprenticeship programmes and those considering starting up their own. The speakers, including the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls, will cover current changes in education and training, and the advantages of programmes such as modern apprenticeships.
Sir Alan Sugar said: “Success is all about finding people who will help make any business grow, especially in times like these. It’s important that employers take Apprenticeships seriously - apprentices make things happen and can help a business to grow and thrive.”
We’ll bring you more on Sir Alan’s visit later today.
