Tourist attraction takes high praise
One of Northumberland’s leading tourist attractions has scooped a national award for its visitor experience.
Carlisle Park, in Morpeth, was given ‘Quality Assured Visitor Attraction’ (QAVA) status by the Enjoy England tourist board after inspectors lavished praise on the venue.
They carried out a rigorous assessment of the park and William Turner Garden before declaring that the attraction offered “a high-quality experience for visitors, with some excellent aspects”.
The park draws in about 500,000 visitors annually and has been honoured with the QAVA standard every year since 2002.
This year’s inspection led to the accolade being presented once more after judges were impressed by the variety of facilities for visitors of all ages.
Councillor Isabel Hunter, Northumberland County Council’s executive member for Culture, said: “Carlisle Park is one of the jewels in the crown of Morpeth and Northumberland as a whole.
“This prestigious award is fully deserved and is testament to the tremendous amount of effort that is put into providing a first-class experience for visitors.”
