Ex-soldier makes introductions

A former soldier has bought a North East dating agency and plans to expand to a larger market.

Louise Northwood, who served in Bosnia during her five years with the Army, bought ‘introduction agency’ Elegant Introductions when it got into financial difficulty. The company, which moved to Scotland but has now been brought back to the North East, has gained over 600 members since Miss Northwood’s take over.

She said: “I want Elegant Introductions to be known for its class, elegance and discretion.

“I meet every member and if I don’t think they’re right for what we’re doing, or if I don’t think I can find them a match, I won’t take them on.

“Also, the ID checks we carry out are very thorough. We will accept members from anywhere between York to the Scottish borders and over to Carlisle, but the majority at the minute live in or around Newcastle.

An anonymous member of the agency commented: “I have been very impressed with the discreet and sensitive assistance provided by Elegant Introductions. Meeting new people is never easy, but they make it so. Those I have met have indeed been elegant and very interesting people.”

Memberships have a joining fee of £495 and an added £25 per months for a twelve month membership. As well as providing a service in which singletons within the region can meet one another, the agency also provides access to other facilities: a personal trainer, psychotherapist, image adviser and homeopath consultancy. Ms Northwood also believes that the social events, from image makeovers to quizzes, all add to boosting her client’s confidence.

Ms Northwood said: “I’m very keen to expand the membership. I get some wonderful feedback from members, and what we offer can help people in ways ranging from finding their perfect partner to helping them feel ready to date again.”
