Businessman puts new spin on networking
A North East businessman has given up his lifelong career to help other companies work together to generate more business.
Forty-nine-year-old Paul Lawton, a former independent financial advisor, devised a new networking organisation which he believed in so passionately that he left his career as a financial advisor, having practised for more than 18 years.
Paul’s new firm Dual Concept Marketing (DCM) is now bringing on board businesses from across the North East to collaborate and generate more income.
“There are a number of networking organisations which are all doing a good job but the strength of DCM lies in the many different ways we get people to collaborate,” said Paul, from Seaton Delaval.
DCM – which now has over a hundred members across Tyne and Wear, Northumberland, Durham and Tees Valley – has a range of options for people to work together including entrepreneurial evening meals, Better Business in 59 Minutes sessions, Meet the Professionals exhibitions and an on-line “social networking for business” tool.
“DCM is not a networking group which puts pressure on its members to give each other leads,” said Paul. “What we offer is a real opportunity for collaboration with members either working together on specific DCM projects or providing their expertise to other companies.
“It’s been a huge success so far and we are right on course to ensure that we have doubled our membership by the end of the year.”
