Town hall gets cultural relaunch
The refurbished Gateshead Old Town Hall will open its doors for the first time in 30 years next month.
The facilities of the Grade II-listed building have been upgraded and renovated to provide a versatile venue, with improvements including an extended stage and modern sound and light equipment.
The opening season will include jazz, world music, comedy, dance, drama and workshop activities.
A Gateshead Council spokesman said: “The opening programme, funded by Arts Council North East, will include lots of events for families and children, comedy to lift your spirits and dance to take part in.
“One highlight includes a chance to experience the venue as it would have been in times gone by in a ‘Not Quite Strictly’ dance event on October 28 and November 25.”
