Graduate employer takes top 100 place
A business advisory firm has been ranked as the second most sought after graduate employer in the UK by The Times High Fliers Top 100 list.
Deloitte were awarded the position after 16,000 final year students said they’d like to work there.
Each year the company recruits 1,000 graduates across the UK and in October they will welcome a number of those to the Newcastle office.
John Charlton, graduate recruitment partner at Deloitte in Newcastle, said: “Whilst some of our major graduate employers are taking on a smaller number this year, we remain committed to our graduate and scholar programs.
“As a business, we recognise that we are only as good as our people, making it imperative that we make efforts to identify the talented who can make a difference to our clients.”
John Charlton has said that with so many young people gaining top grades at A-level, and the job market getting more competitive, some graduate employers may be tempted to impose higher requirements to get a job with them.
He added: “At Deloitte we have decided against this. We judge people on a range of skills and achievements that go beyond their school grades and this helps create a level playing field.”
On July 1, Deloitte’s graduate application process opened for 2010, with vacancies for 1,000 new graduates.
Students can now apply if they have graduated or about to start their final year.
