Building society prepares for postal strikes
With potential postal strikes getting ever closer, a North East building society has this week stopped using Royal Mail for deliveries.
From close of business on Monday, 19 October, Darlington Building Societyhas stopped using Royal Mail for deliveries until further notice. Instead DBS will use fax, the existing DX service whenever possible or rely on personal delivery.
Where funds need to be transferred to either individuals or businesses then DBS plans to the BACS system.
The society says that it will take a sympathetic view of any deadlines missed over the strike period.
David Dodd, Chief Executive at Darlington Building Society said: “Postal strikes inevitably cause disruption to the smooth running of most businesses. By taking the actions we have, any inconvenience to our members and suppliers will be kept to a minimum”.
