North East sports injury clinic set for expansion
A clinic which boasts some of the best names in the sports injury field is already looking to expand, having only recently opened its doors.
The Performance Clinic, based at the new CitySpace building at the University of Sunderland, was officially opened last Thursday by athlete and Chancellor of the university, Steve Cram.
The clinic is headed up by physiotherapist Penny Macutkiewicz, who has worked with leading sports people since 2002 – including Olympic swimmers Joanne Jackson and Chris Cook, Paralympic Gold medallist Stephen Miller and the Newcastle Eagles basketball team.
Following demand for the clinic’s services, Penny is looking at taking on two new physiotherapists.
Penny said: “Athletes and sportspeople are travelling across the region to use our services. We’ve been fully booked since opening and I’m delighted to say that we are currently looking to recruit two new physiotherapists.
“The Performance Clinic is accessible to all and treatment prices are reasonable. I want to encourage those with sports injuries who would usually ignore them, hoping they will go away, to come and see what a difference professional care can make.”
The Performance Clinic has been open for a month and Mr Cram performed the official opening on Thursday with Penny’s friends, family and clients in attendance showing their support.
Mr Cram said: “To have acquired Penny Macutkiewicz is of massive benefit to the students of the university and everyone in the North East. It’s fantastic that the clinic is already doing so well that Penny is looking at expanding the business.”
