Dragon joins geeks
One of the best-known female entrepreneurs in the country will be speaking at an event hosted by the North East female networking group Girl Geeks.
Rachel Elnaugh, who was part of the original line-up on BBC’s Dragons’ Den, will be the key speaker at the event next week.
Ms Elnaugh founded the experience company Red Letter Days and built it up into a £100m business, before having to deal with its collapse. She is now Entrepreneur in Residence at the British Library Business & IP Centre, in London, and works with and inspires small businesses.
Carrie Hartnell, head of industry strategy, at London-based Intellect, the leading trade association for the UK technology industry, will also speak at the event.
Mia Chapman, founder of Girl Geeks North East, said: “I’m hearing about female-led innovative companies all the time, and it’s really encouraging for both the industry and economic recovery. The network is now attracting professional women from technology, science, digital, engineering and creative industries and the high calibre of speakers coming to the region for this and future events is an illustration of the network’s continued success.
“As a network, Girl Geeks can work together and support each other to build on successes across the region.”
