Technology proves virtually no risk
A company that makes sure the wheels turn smoothly for thousands of motorists has taken out its own insurance policy against disaster, by adopting the latest technology.
North Shields-based CBS Ltd., which specialises in software and administration support services for insurance companies, has called in technology experts SITS Group to create a business continuity platform in case of emergencies.
As part of the virtualisation project, the SITS team also created a live replica of CBS’s entire IT system, which is held at a secure data centre and protects the business against disaster.
Andrew Burnett, IT director at CBS, said: “We support several insurance companies which are heavily reliant on technology, so we cannot afford to suffer any downtime.
“The business is now protected by fully secure technology – in the face of any interruption it would simply be business as usual for us and our insurer, which is exactly the result we wanted.
“We see this project as the start of a very beneficial, long term partnership.”
Phil Cambers, commercial director of SITS Group, added: “Virtualisation was the obvious choice for CBS’s needs.
“The whole server estate has been re-aligned to be much more efficient and secure, and the system is also future-proof and easily scalable as the business grows, without the need for any big investments.”
