National win for SCSL
A fledgling health and safety consultancy has won the biggest deal in its history that will see it protect the welfare of over 10,000 people in 200 care homes.
After less than a year in business, North Shields-based SCSL has fought off competition from several large national players to land a contract with care homes operator Barchester Healthcare.
The lucrative deal will see the company audit Barchester’s entire national portfolio.
Meanwhile, SCSL has also won a contract with one of the world’s largest insurers QBE, to assist with health and safety services for the firm’s European operations.
Managing director Richard Wade said the company was well on the way to hitting £1m in annual turnover by targeting large national corporations as well smaller regional firms.
He said: “By going for these larger national clients it has given us a solid platform to grow the business.
“When we launched the business last May our only aim was to survive the recession, but now we are growing rapidly.”
As well as providing health and safety training, SCSL’s other services include fire risk assessment and occupational hygiene consultancy.
