Sugar inspires North East
Bdaily attended the Hilton Hotel in Gateshead yesterday to take in Lord Alan Sugar’s rousing Q&A session with almost 500 North East businesses.
Lord Sugar, who was recently appointed as an ‘enterprise champion’ to the government, offered the region’s entrepreneurs advice on how to grow and prosper and gave a glowing insight into the business wisdom he’s culminated over the past 40 years.
The free event offered small to medium sized private sector businesses the chance to voice their ideas and questions to Lord Sugar and they heard some first rate advice in return.
Alistair MacColl, chief executive of Business and Enterprise North East, said: “Lord Sugar is one of the most respected entrepreneurs in the world.
“Having built up multi-national enterprises, he is an inspiration to SME owners and unsurprisingly the event had an overwhelming response from the region who wanted to see him.
“It was an excellent event and one that I am sure will have been of great benefit to the businesses that attended.”
In 1968, Lord Sugar founded Amstrad and over 40 years later has an estimated worth of £730m.
He was recently ranked 59th in the Sunday Times Rich List.
