Singapore rumour circulates Arriva
Rumours in the City on Thursday claimed that a third party could be set to join the two European firms reportedly in the running to acquire North East transport giant Arriva.
According to the London Evening Standard, a rumour has circulated the market claiming that Singapore’s ComfortDelGro, the operator of London’s Metroline bus company, could also be interested in the firm.
The Asian business joins French railway operator SNCF and German company Deutsche Barn - which is to manage the running of the Tyne and Wear Metro on behalf of Nexus - among companies linked with Arriva.
Meanwhile, Newcastle-based oil and gas pipeline firm Wellstream made strong gains on Thursday amid a rumour in the Square Mile that it too could be close to a takeover.
Neither of the two North East firms made any comment to substantiate the rumours however.
