Record contract win for Tyneside firm
A Tyneside factory is gearing up for expansion after landing a £50m contract for work on two aircraft carriers.
C&D Industrial Services Ltd, at Viking Industrial Park in Jarrow has won the biggest deal in its history to fabricate, supply and install heating ventilation and air conditioning systems for the Royal Navy carriers.
The contract is likely to spark job creation at the site which currently employs 30 people.
Company spokesperson Bill Blakey said: “We are delighted to be involved on this prestigious project, which represents the largest single order ever to have been awarded to the C&D Group of companies.
“Our success is clearly a testament to the skills and expertise of our employees.
“This represents a significant step forward in the development of our UK business, and the contract award will enable the company to invest in both equipment and jobs.
“This is great news for the North East and our wider UK business operations.”
The Jarrow plant will carry out the work for the IMTECH Marine Group, a leading contractor working for the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (ACA) on the Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carrier programme.
