Airport manager lands at Gallowgate
THE former manager of Newcastle International Airport’s press office has been appointed as the new head of media at Newcastle United.
Wendy Taylor, who managed the airport’s press office for six years, joins the club at a time when it is once again under close scrutiny in the communications department – a common feature of the Mike Ashley regime.
Earlier this month the club issued a statement which, although intended to clarify the financial state of the business, left many supporters confused about its plans for the future.
The appointment of Ms Taylor could be seen as a move to improve the communication between the board, supporters and the media as the intense spotlight that comes with life in the Premier League returns in August.
Ms Taylor said: “I am excited and immensely proud to be taking on this role at such a prestigious football club as Newcastle United.”
“It’s an enormous challenge but one that I am very eager to take on.”
“I am looking forward to working closely with all areas of the media; developing and strengthening our relationships off the pitch.”
United’s managing director Derek Llambias, said: “We are delighted to have Wendy on board. She brings a wealth of media experience with her and I am sure she will prove an excellent acquisition for the Club.
“With our return to the Premier League, Wendy joins us at a very exciting time and I wish her every success in what is a key role within the Football Club.”
