Thinking Digital: Opening comments
THE third annual Thinking Digital conference kicked off this morning with radio and TV presenter Lauren Laverne heralding the North East’s renaissance as a technology industry hotbed.
The conference has become a major event on the science and technology industry calendar, putting the North East on the map within the sector in its short history.
The Culture Show presenter and ambassador for her home town, Sunderland, said: “We are becoming industrial again but a different kind of industrial. To me, having been born and bred here, that really makes sense because industry is taking ideas and making them a reality.
“It’s fantastic to see the North East as the forward thinking place that people from here know that it is.”
The two-day conference – organised by North East industry body Codeworks - at The Sage Gateshead has brought together a number of world-renowned technologists from across the globe.
