ONE chairman honoured by Queen
ONE North East chairman Margaret Fay was at Buckingham Palace yesterday to receive her CBE.
She was presented with the honour by Her Majesty The Queen for services to the Regional Development Agency, having been named in the 2010 New Year’s honours list.
Mrs Fay, who is from South Shields, is due to retire as chairman this year after giving six years in the position, said: “I don’t see this award as personal to me. It is an award for everyone at One North East for the tremendous job that they do in helping to improve the economy of the region.”
Mrs Fay is the former managing director of Tyne Tees Television and was previously awarded an OBE for per services to broadcasting in 2004. She is a board member of the Homes and Communities Agency, Patron of Tees Valley Community Foundation and has this week joined the boards of Northumbrian Water as an independent non-executive director.
In her time at One North East she has overseen a number of significant regional projects, including the growth of the National Renewable Energy Centre at Blyth, the birth of the electric vehicle industry and the launch of the £125m Finance for Business North East fund.
