Winning new business at the World Cup
CREATIVE media hotspot Hoults Yard is turning this summer’s World Cup into a giant networking opportunity for the region’s business community.
Hoults, in Walker, Newcastle, is showing the only England game to be played during working hours - England v Slovenia on Wednesday, June 23 - on a giant 16ft screen to a crowd of 500 of the region’s business professionals.
The Byker yard, which is home to some 400 media professionals and a wealth of the region’s cultural industries, hopes to create a festive atmosphere by laying on a hog roast, BBQ, bar and entertainment from the Baghdaddies.
Over 200 tickets for the World Cup in a Warehouse event have already been sold, with around 300 waiting to be snapped up.
The event, which is being co-hosted by UBS Wealth Managers, law firm Muckle LLP and PR firm O Communications, will kick off at 2.30pm as Glastonbury regulars and London Marathon roadside performers The Baghdaddies play.
Managing director Charlie Hoult said: “It’s well known that on the days of the England games people’s minds stray from their jobs and lots of holiday requests go in.
“We just thought it would make more sense to embrace the only game that will interrupt the working day by turning it into a business event, where the region’s business community can come together and ‘do business’ and then have a bit of pleasure afterwards.”
