Free music on Tyne
FREE music is set to be heard throughout South Shields this summer as the South Tyneside Summer Festival continues in earnest.
Along with live appearances from big name stars including Aswad, Tony Christie and the X Factor’s Stacey Solomon, July will also see the return of the festival’s popular Music in the Bandstand series, featuring a mix of traditional and modern music to suit all tastes.
Live performances will be held at the bandstand in South Marine Park every Saturday throughout July and August, starting with the South Tyneside Senior Wind Band from 10.30am on Saturday, July 10.
Other bands set to appear in the series, which is being supported by the Friends of North and South Marine Parks, include the Mussel Square Boys (July 17) and Gladstone (July 31).
The park will also play host to the Big Dance Day featuring the Little Big Band from 12pm on Saturday, July 24, before the series swings into August with performances by the Cockerton Prize Silver Band (August 7), The Little Big Band (August 14), the Vieux Carre Jazzmen (August 21) and Granny Smith’s Maggot (August 28).
The times of these performances will vary so please refer to the full listings for more details about the Music in the Bandstand Series and all of the other events happening as part of the South Tyneside Summer Festival 2010.
