Bin wagon specialist clocks £4.7m
A TRUCK and van specialist has won deals to supply new bin wagons worth £4.7m to four of the region’s refuse collection authorities.
Bell Truck and Van is to deliver its ninth six-wheel Mercedes-Benz Econic to Stockton Borough Council – its 37th bin wagon this year across the region.
So far this year, Teessidebased Bell has reportedly won contracts to supply 17 bin wagons to Durham County Council, eight to Middlesbrough Council, three to Hartlepool Borough Council and nine to Stockton – which adds up to £4.7m worth of vehicles.
Bell, which has six vehicle centres across the region, is the North-East’s only Mercedes- Benz truck and commercial vehicle supplier, and has specialist centres at Billingham and Longbenton, and a regional parts centre at Birtley.
Alan Dale, truck sales manager at Bell, said: “The Econic is now one of the most popular vehicles for refuse collection.
“More than 3,000 are currently in service nationwide with municipal and private refuse contractors, accounting for more than 30 per cent of the market.”
