NBS makes major appointment
NEWCASTLE Building Society (NBS) has announced the appointment of Angela Russell as its new finance director.
Ms Russell, who has been acting finance director since the end of January 2010, has worked for the society for several years in a variety of roles, including group risk executive for the last two years.
She also held the post of finance director with Universal Building Society before its merger with NBS at the end of 2006.
Ms Russell is a chartered accountant and spent 12 years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in both the Newcastle and Los Angeles offices.
NBS chief executive Jim Willens said: “This is a critical appointment for the Society and we are particularly pleased that in finding the best candidate for the job we have also been able to make an internal appointment; rewarding outstanding performance, loyalty and commitment.
“Over the last five months Ms Russell has played a key role in the successful completion of the capital exchange and the launch and implementation of our repositioning program. We welcome the addition of Angela’s financial and technical experience to the Board.”
