Darlington firm sets its sights on high tech jobs
A THERMAL IMAGING firm is poised to create a flux of jobs in the region after relocating to a new headquarters in the North East.
Solo Thermal Imaging Limited, based in Darlington, created six jobs on day one of trading in May and expects to generate five more thanks to its new business plan and £26,000 of business investment.
Solo manufactures and distributes thermal cameras and now has set its sights on national expansion after moving in to its new home in Darlington.
Victoria McLaren, managing director at Solo, said: “Now that we have all of our operations established in new North East premises we are well positioned to grow the business and offer more high-tech jobs.”
By rendering infrared radiation as visible light, Solo products allow fire fighters to see areas of heat through smoke, darkness or heat permeable barriers.
Solo will now manufacture the smallest thermal imaging cameras on earth, allowing the company to lead the world in the field.
Commenting on the success of the business so far, Graham Cornforth, corporate finance manager at Haines Watts, who supports the firm, said: “We are very excited to be working with a new, innovative company like Solo.
“Securing the GBI funding from ONE on behalf of Solo is a great achievement and demonstrates that it remains possible to secure funding for good projects.
“We look forward to working with Solo as it continues to grow.”
