Welcoming visitors in a flash
A FLASH mob of more than 60 employees from across Tyne and Wear’s tourism industry will gather at the Angel of the North this morning armed with a giant welcome sign.
The group aim to put into practice the famous Geordie welcome that makes the destination so popular with visitors from around the world, and are celebrating the launch of a free destination induction programme developed specifically for tourism industry employees.
Welcome to Tyne and Wear is the brand new, fully funded destination awareness and customer service trainingfor all front-line tourism and hospitality employees in Tyne and Wear.
Suitable for anyone who comes into contact with visitors, the training comprises a three hour workshop with DVD and participants guide, and a two hour walking tour of key destinations within the area with a Blue Badge Guide.
The training looks at who visitors are and where they come from, the history and heritage of the region, the state of the industry today and its impact on the visitor experience.
