Keeping tourists in the know
A DIGITAL agency is set to take the global tourism trade by storm having sold more than 100,000 copies of its revolutionary audio technology.
Think Innovative, based in Gosforth, has been appointed sole distributor of the new iKnow player -which is used to “enhance the tourist’s experience” - and has already enjoyed sales with high profile names including the London Eye, The Vatican and Greyline Buses in New York.
The product is expected to radically change the company’s activities and plans are already in place to bolster its workforce to meet growing demand.
Think Innovative director, Linda Hitman, said: “It’s an extremely exciting time for us. We’re in lots of talks with people who want the iKnow player and if all goes to plan I’ve no doubt that we’ll be looking to increase our workforce because we won’t be able to handle the interest.
“We’d like to be in a position where we’re turning over millions. We’d like to increase turnover by 100%.”
The new device has been described as a low cost audio MP3 player, which can be individually branded and recorded for an organisation.
It comes with headphones and an area guide and can be applied in all areas of business.
The London Eye is the only organisation in the UK to be using the new audio guide but Think Innovative believes it won’t be long before it floods into the North East and other parts of the globe.
Ms. Hitman added: “We’re in the process of talking to Alnwick Castle and that maybe the first site in the North East to use it.
“We’ve also teamed up with a South African pharmaceuticals company to deliver a diabetes campaign in extremely remote areas. It’s available in six different dialects and people in small villages can listen to advice and learn about symptoms associated with the condition.”
