Sage creator launches new venture
SAGE co-founder Graham Wylie has officially opened his latest venture - a £7.5m golf academy and driving range at Close House Hotel.
The multi-millionaire has invested in some of the latest golf-related technology as he prepares to welcome visitors from around the world to theNorth East.
The privately owned venue is set in over 400 acres and is located 10 minutes from Newcastle city centre and the airport and is set to drive much neededbusiness to the region.
Mr Wylie said: “The course is the only golf course being built in the UK this year.
“With the new state of the art clubhouse due to open spring 2011 it will set an unrivalled standard in the North East. We want to make the region a hub for golf and we want to encourage young people to give it a go.”
It has been Wylie’s goal to achieve the custom fit suite, which includes a system based on a South African missile tracking device - giving perfect analysis of the ball in flight.
The system has been endorsed by internationally renowned golf coach Butch Harmon and the public have been invited to try the equipment out.
