Home working “revolution” brings 400 jobs to region
A NORTH East recruitment firm is on the lookout for 400 enterprising individuals to join the home-working “revolution”.
TEMP-TEAM has been enlisted by Arise Virtual Solutions to fill hundreds of remote customer service posts in the run up to Christmas.
The company is hoping Arise’s recruitment drive will come as a welcome boost to the North East’s customer service industry after 900 workers at Shop Direct’s call centre in Sunderland were made redundant when the facility was closed earlier in the year.
Branch manager Paul Clark, who previously worked as an operations manager for Shop Direct, said: “I think this is a perfect opportunity for Shop Direct’s old staff to work from home and I’m thrilled to be helping people get back into work in this way.
“Flexibility is a huge advantage of working for Arise. Travel costs are eliminated and people can work when they want to.
“From a company perspective it offers a saving on overheads on building costs, maintenance as well as sickness, absence and holiday costs.”
The home-working system has proved hugely popular in the US where people living in remote areas and those with disabilities and working families have been able to earn a living without leaving the house.
In the UK improvements in web-based technology and the need for many companies to cut costs in a difficult economic climate, has meant that remote employment is gradually becoming more common.
TEMP-TEAM has seven offices across Tyneside, Durham, Teesside and Yorkshire.
