Major project gets underway
WORK has started on a speculative high spec office development at North Tyneside’s Cobalt Park where more than 700 people will be employed.
The project was officially launched by the Elected Mayor of North Tyneside, Linda Arkley and Chief Executive of North Tyneside Council, John Marsden. The 63,000 sq ft (5853 sq m) five storey state-of-the-art office will offer highly flexible workspace with large, open plan floor plates and two double height atria giving the building the flexibility to be multi-tenanted.
The building will represent a new generation in office design and is set to achieve new levels in energy efficiency resulting in lower running costs for tenants and a significant reduction in carbon emissions, demonstrated by its high Energy Performance Certificate rating.
It will achieve an “Excellent” BREEAM rating - the classification that assesses all aspects of a development’s sustainable credentials highlighting the commitment to a green and sustainable agenda. Completion is due in May 2011.
Mark Ashall of Cobalt developers Highbridge, said: “We are delighted to be starting this next phase of development at Cobalt which demonstrates our long-term commitment to investing in the North East and takes the quality of the offer at Cobalt to the highest level.”
