Student entrepreneurs on the rise
NEWCASTLE has been named among the country’s top five cities when it comes to the entrepreneurial spirit shown among its student population.
According to research from Hiscox, 40% of students in London are either running their own business or are about to do so, with Hull second in the chart of would-be entrepreneurs and Newcastle fifth.
Hiscox has found that 1% of graduates believe that qualifications are the most important factor when thinking about setting up a business, while they see creative thinking (40 %), the ability to network (38%) and risk-taking (28%) as the key attributes of successful entrepreneurs.
And it seems our ambitious young students admire entrepreneurs who have made it, rating Sir Richard Branson (24%) and Lord Alan Sugar (20%) as the most inspirational entrepreneurs globally.
Glasgow and Cardiff were listed third and fourth in the study.
