‘Appethaizing’ future for Durham city centre
A RAPIDLY expanding North East food company has opened a further restaurant in Durham city centre bringing ten new jobs to the region.
Central Thai has opened its doors at The Gates shopping centre on Framwellgate Bridge.
The new restaurant represents a second venture for the family of Chusak Phetmalaikul, who also owns and runs Royal Thai in Darlington.
The growth and expansion of the family business into Durham City includes 10 new jobs.
The fully revamped and newly fitted restaurant caters for up to 100 people at full capacity and boasts a mezzanine level available for private functions and with seating for 26.
“This is an exciting new challenge for us,” said Mr Phetmalaikul, “and we want to build on the success of our restaurant in Darlington, serving up the very best of Thai cuisine in a relaxed and friendly environment.
“We are very much a family friendly restaurant, with great pride in our service and a comprehensive menu with good vegetarian options.”
The Gates shopping centre manager Inge Johnson added: “The launch of Central Thai is helping to build on our growing reputation for matching a fantastic range of retailers with a burgeoning and cosmopolitan cluster of top notch eateries.
“We look forward to seeing the restaurant thrive in this bustling retail environment and providing our shoppers with the chance to refresh and sample a diverse menu of the finest Thai cuisine.”
