NOF to stage major conference in the region
A BUSINESS development organisation is bringing a major national conference to the North East in a bid to address the future of the energy sector.
Headlined by Minister of State for the Department of Energy and Climate Change, Charles Hendry MP, NOF Energy’s latest event hopes to secure the UK’s energy requirements.
Speaking at the event penned for March of next year, will be executives from respected organisations such as The Crown Estates, EDF Energy, Oil & Gas UK and the Nuclear Industry Association.
Over 400 delegates are expected to descend on the North East for the conference, which will also include an exhibition featuring leading energy sector companies.
George Rafferty, Chief Executive of NOF Energy, said: “This will be one of the UK’s biggest energy sector conferences of 2011 and a major boost for the North East region, which is globally-recognised for its industrial excellence.
“We are entering a new era for energy generation and supply where nuclear and renewable sources are gaining increasing credence as the UK to become a low carbon economy. However, it’s unrealistic to turn out backs on oil and gas at this stage.
“What the UK needs for a stable supply is to generate energy from a combination of the hydrocarbon, nuclear and renewables sectors.”
