North East legends in town for teenage cancer
TWO North East legends will be showcasing an event in the Newcastle this weekend in aid of the Teenage Cancer Trust.
Following on from the Tyne Idols tour in the summer, Lindisfarne drummer Ray Laidlaw and legendary director Geoff Wonfor will be at the Vermont Hotel in the city this Sunday.
Geoff and Ray’s conversation will be illustrated with film clips charting Geoff’s career from Tyne Tees Television in the 1960s, through his days at BBC Newcastle, The Tube, The Beatles Anthology, documentaries with Paul and Stella McCartney, up to his current project, We’ll Always Have Dingle, a documentary on the Dingle Film Festival in Ireland.
Ray Laidlaw said: “Geoff has an amazing story he’s a great raconteur and has millions of stories and we’re going to illustrate the things he has done over the past”
“A very entertaining evening for music and TV fans is most certainly on the cards. People who are interested in music and who are interested in the stories behind stories will be able to hear it first hand.
“For example how did Geoff get the Beatles to let him do the Beatles anthology? When they could have had anybody else in the world? How did he manage to keep these people happy? There all sorts of stuff behind the scenes that people will be able to hear about.”
The night kicks off at 7.30pm and tickets are priced £10 with all profits from the event being donated to the Teenage Cancer Trust.
