North East England Director Returns To His Roots To Film Tourism Ad
An internationally renowned director has returned to his roots to create an advert promoting the North East. North Shields-born Adrian Moat has returned to his native North East to shoot the commercial which will form a key part of the ‘Passionate People, Passionate People’ regional image campaign. The advert follows the journey of a young couple visiting the region. Their journey takes in a range of sights, including Bamburgh, Durham Cathedral, the Farne Islands, Guisborough Priory, Hadrian’s Wall, High Force, NewcastleGateshead Quayside, Penshaw Monument, Roseberry Topping and Seahouses.
The shoot also acted as a family reunion for the 39-year old director, who worked alongside his sister Carolyn Moat who was location manager on the commercial. As part of the team at RSA Films - South Shields-born director Ridley Scott’s company – Adrian’s career has taken him all over the world, shooting commercials for Nissan, Motorola and San Miguel. But when the opportunity came up to play such a crucial role in the first television advert for One NorthEast’s award winning campaign, Adrian knew it was a chance not to be missed.
He explained: “I am really enthusiastic about this project because I am a North East lad, born and bred. “To play such a crucial part in a commercial that will promote the region nationally as a major visitor destination, and profile some of the fantastic attractions it has to offer, is fantastic for me. “I have worked all over the world, for some major international companies, but returning home to film this television campaign was an opportunity I just could not miss.”
The advert will be broadcast on ITV, Channel 4, Five and a variety of satellite channels in February.
