School Of Rock calls on rockstar tutors

A national award-winning rock and pop school which is set to expand into the West Midlands in the spring is rapidly taking on more tutors due to overwhelming demand.

School of Rock & Pop - which will run its weekly music sessions in Solihull, Sutton Coldfield, Wolverhampton and Leamington Spa from March – has received so much interest from young people wanting to attend their sessions and support from local schools it is recruiting four more staff in addition to its nine-strong team already in place.

The out-of-school group provides a safe, enjoyable and engaging environment for young musicians, aged 11 to 18, to develop their instrumental and vocal skills whilst building confidence and making new friends.

School of Rock & Pop was established in 2005 by Andrew Meadowcroft and Keith Peberdy, who has worked with a number of rock and pop stars including Sting, The Rolling Stones and Robbie Williams, now operates groups in the Midlands, North East, Yorkshire and North West.

Mr Meadowcroft, said: “We have been overwhelmed with the immediate response from young people and the support from schools in the region that are promoting our rock school. Due to the popularity we are investing in pro-actively growing our creative team so that all musicians and singers can reach their full potential.

“We are looking for gifted musicians, including under-graduates and graduates, who are passionate about nurturing talent, have great instrumental and communication skills, and experience of teaching.

“School of Rock & Pop training and mentoring will be given to all new members of staff so they can fully support the young people to pick up a guitar, drumsticks or microphone and have some serious fun.”

School of Rock & Pop’s ethos is that anyone can learn to play an instrument or perform, and works with young people of all different ability to develop individual skill and style, perform in a band and express themselves through improvisation

Places are still available for the new group but are limited due to demand. All newcomers can enjoy a free taster session on their first visit.
