Chocolate pioneer announced as Team Tomorrow keynote

Craig Sams, co-founder of organic chocolate pioneer Green & Black’s has been announced as guest speaker at Get It Sussed, the upcoming sustainable procurement conference organised by Team Tomorrow, NewcastleGateshead Initiative and One North East’s programme of events for businesses in the region to engage with London 2012 opportunities.

Craig Sams will join a diverse line up of procurement and sustainability advisers, presenters and speakers at the event which will take place on 20th March at the Hilton Hotel, Gateshead. The free one day event aims to encourage businesses in the region to develop sustainable tendering techniques and operating processes in line with current public and private sector requirements initiated and honed as part of London 2012. Delegates attending the event will come away knowing the latest developments in sustainable procurement, practical actions to take away and the inspiration to “raise the bar” with their sustainable practices to ultimately give them a competitive edge when tendering.

Craig Sams said “Sustainability matters, whatever size of business you are in. I’ve set up businesses from scratch, worked with large Associations and with giant multi-nationals. Today, everyone wants to know, and needs to know, why this subject is so important and I’m looking forward to sharing some of my experiences at this event next week”.

Mike Hawkins - North East 2012 Regional Business Lead said,

“We are delighted to welcome Craig as a speaker at “Get it Sussed” – the Green and Black’s story is a clear example that it is possible to achieve real business success and still deliver valuable social outcomes and I’m sure delegates will be keen to hear more about Craig’s views on sustainable and environmental living and how he has created a successful empire based on those beliefs.”

“The purpose of the event is to inform businesses on potential opportunities, promote best procurement practice and collaborative business working, essentially aimed at increasing the number of contracts gained by regional businesses. With presentations from Forum for the Future and LOCOG and practical workshops from Durham County Council on Public Procurement and Gareth Kane of Terra Infirma helping organisations embed sustainability into their business processes, the event has real variety and I’m sure delegates will go away with practical actions they can take back to the workplace”

This combined with interactive activities to help delegates take easy steps to help fill the gaps in their sustainable procurement practices and hearing from companies who are at the top end of their game when it comes to sustainability, means there is real variety to the day and delegates are sure to come away with positive actions to take back to the workplace.

Tickets for the event are free, full details and how to book can be found at www.getitsussed.eventbrite.co.uk
