Draft Energy Bill to be revealed
The Government is set to publish its draft energy bill later, which is designed to encourage major investment in clean energy.
The bill will also ensure security of supply, as well as plans for nuclear and renewable energy. However, some believe that this will not reduce UK reliance on gas, because more clarity is needed on the Government’s long term policies. Furthermore, some energy suppliers believe that proposed changes are overly complex.
Whatever is revealed in the document later today, it is clear that an environmentally friendly, simple and affordable energy policy is needed for the UK - and the Government should not be swayed from this. Even if it isn’t necessarily the most economically friendly option in the short term.
