Extension of Gazprom pipeline to UK under consideration
A Russian Gas giant has indicated that it is considering extending its Baltic pipeline to reach the UK.
According to reports by the Associated Press, Gazprom’s chief executive Alexei Miller made the comments in a televised broadcast, adding that UK energy group BT had also shown an interest in the idea.
The Nord Stream pipeline currently runs from the St Petersburg coast in Russia to Northern Germany. Russia currently provides two fifths of all European gas imports.
Neither Gazprom nor BT were available for comment.
