After months of anticipation, today the eyes of the world will be on the UK as London plays host to the 2012 Olympic Games.

Despite the costs, controversies and confusion, the Games will provide an opportunity to showcase everything which is truly great about Britain, and could give the UK economy a much-needed boost.
