Sales up for pub chain despite wet summer
Sales are up at Greene King pubs, despite the poor summer weather, as the chain report their latest figures.
As the Olympics had minimal net impact on the overall retail performance in the country, like-for-like sales were up 5.1%.
The Suffolk-headquartered company also reported strength in food sales growth of 5.2%, and room sales growth of 4.9%.
Total beer volume was up 0.4%, as the Old Speckled Hen and Greene King IPA brands had both achieved good volume growth following relaunches this year.
In a trading statement, the company said: “We believe underlying trading trends across the business have been maintained through the summer, despite the disappointing weather. This is encouraging for the rest of the year, although we expect consumer confidence to remain subdued.
“However, we remain confident that our Retail growth strategy, combined with our focus on delivering excellent value, service and quality to our customers, will continue to deliver earnings and dividend growth for our shareholders.”
