SAS Daniels retains three trainees

Three trainees at North West law firm SAS Daniels LLP have qualified and been retained to take up positions with the business. Simon Dukes, Jamie Cooper, and Martyn Heyes joined the firm in September 2011, and after two years have qualified as solicitors, a 100 per cent retention rate for SAS Daniels.

Simon Dukes returned to the law following several years in business, including six running his own fabric conversion and manufacturing company. He obtained a Graduate Diploma in Law from Chester College of Law and subsequently took his LPC. He specialises in Family Law and has advised on financial settlements as well as conducting proceedings at Court involving matrimonial property. Simon is based in the Chester office.

Jamie Cooper studied at Keele and Staffordshire Universities prior to joining SAS Daniels, and now works in the real estate team, specialising in commercial property. Based in Stockport, he has undertaken a variety of work during his two years at the firm, most notably working on the purchase of a £750,000 block of flats from receivers.

Martyn Heyes joined the firm from the College of Law in Manchester, and is also based in Stockport as part of the corporate team. He forms part of the team that worked on the re-structure and refinance of BiG Storage and the management buy-in and re-structure of the Quba group.

Additionally, Martyn provides advice to charities and other not-for-profit entities on a range of corporate and commercial matters. Before qualifying, Martyn acted as online secretary to the Manchester Trainee Solicitor Group (MTSG).

Jonathan Whittaker, senior partner at SAS Daniels, said “We are delighted to have Simon, Jamie and Martyn qualify and stay with the firm. They are all talented legal professionals who have proved their worth time and time again.

“We challenge our trainees to act as solicitors from day one, rather than have them sat next to photocopiers, and the work these three are doing for clients underlines their skills and abilities.”
