Wynyard Hall named one of the best in the UK…
One of the North East’s most prestigious hotels has received a top industry accolade naming it one of the best in the UK.
Wynyard Hall hotel, in the Tees Valley, was awarded four red stars by the AA – the highest honour possible for a four star hotel - at a glittering ceremony in London last night.
The award, which places the hotel in an elite Inspector’s Choice category, comes just months after Wynyard Hall’s renowned Wellington Restaurant was awarded a highly sought after third AA rosette.
“This is a massive achievement for us,” said general manager Adam Dyke, “and the fact we have done it in the same year that we achieved three rosettes for our Wellington Restaurant makes it even more special.
“It is virtually unheard of to win two such huge awards in the same 12 month period.”
The upgrading of Wynyard Hall’s former four yellow stars to red ones, puts the 25-bedroom hotel and spa among the UK’s top 150 hotels and was the result of three visits by AA inspectors over an 18 month period.
During each visit all departments of the hotel, which recently embarked on a multi-million pound re-development of its walled garden, were inspected on their standards of service, cleanliness and quality.
In January, the Wellington restaurant, under the leadership of executive head chef Alan O’Kane, impressed AA inspectors with the quality of its ingredients and with its creative flair and culinary skill to earn a third AA rosette – just a year after receiving its second.
“This really has been an exceptional year for Wynyard HalI,” said managing director Allison Antonopoulos.
“I could not be more proud of every single member of our staff without whose hard work, enthusiasm and dedication we would not have received these wonderful accolades.”
