Charities celebrate £8k MBNA donation
Two local charities received a welcome financial boost after fundraisers from Chester-based MBNA raised almost £8,000 to be shared between them.
Wrexham-based Hemi-Chat and the Walking With Giants Foundation in Liverpool each received a cheque for just over £3,800 from MBNA’s Credit Risk Strategies Department during a presentation event at MBNA’s Chester-based headquarters.
Staff held events such as ‘Forecastonbury’ – an internal music festival, a departmental football tournament and regular raffles, cake sales, book sales and pub quizzes for 12 months to collect the bumper figure.
Hannah Berry, a Strategic Analyst from the Credit Risk Strategies Department at MBNA, said: “Everyone in the department has been fantastic with their fundraising efforts over the past year and we’re over the moon to present both charities with almost £4,000 each.
“Every department across MBNA raises money for different charities so this was our turn to give something back to the community. We’re very proud of our efforts for two amazing organisations and we enjoyed having them here to collect their cheques in person and tell us more about what the money will be used for.”
The Hemi-Chat charity supports children with Hemiplegia Disease; a disease linked to cerebral palsy caused when a child suffers a stroke either before birth or in early life.
The Walking With Giants Foundation supports those affected by Primordial Dwarfism, promoting a greater understanding of the condition and helping affected individuals to reach their full potential in life.
