CastleGate welcomes new events manager
CastleGate Conference Services Ltd, which manages the CastleGate as a conference and events venue in Newcastle’s city centre, has appointed Becky Underwood as its new Events Manager.
Becky joins the team as a permanent member of staff following a year of maternity cover in a finance role, and will be tasked with planning and executing all of the CastleGate’s events, including conferences, exhibitions and corporate functions. She will also play a key part in developing the company’s recent expansion to become a new wedding reception venue.
“I’m extremely excited about stepping into my new role. I love being part of the CastleGate team and I’m really passionate about seeing the business grow in new ways.” She said of her new post, “I’m particularly looking forward to being involved in the wedding receptions due to take place in the Turbine Hall – I love seeing this enormous historic hall transform into a spectacular setting for celebration.”
Becky, who grew up on a Northumberland farm overlooking Holy Island, recently graduated with a BA (hons) in Events Management from Leeds Metropolitan University. As part of her degree she completed a yearlong placement with Benchmark Communications, during which she worked on events such as NewcastleGateshead Art Fair and Great North Sport and Fitness Show.
Ed Morrow, Managing Director of the CastleGate, commented: “Becky is joining a fantastic team in an exciting new phase of the CastleGate business. I’m confident her enthusiasm and experience will be a great asset to us and our clients as we move forward.”
